History

Jan Mastenbroek started Mastenbroek Aeroskill in 1968. The 'company' consisted of a tool kit, van, and typewriter. In 1972 a Piper Super Cub with crop spraying equipment was purchased. The activities were adapted to the capacities of the aircraft; crop spraying and banner towing. Crop Spaying was a growing business at the time and the fleet grew in keeping with this fact.

history

In 1975 a hangar was built at the current establishment. The location turned out to be excellent for aircraft maintenance and sales. Mastenbroek represented Avions Pierre Robin and Mooney in The Netherlands. Because off the success of the aircraft maintenance and sales, the growing popularity of the environmentalist, and the economical recession resulted in the decision to end the crop spraying and banner towing in 1981.

The built up experience as operator was very helpful to enter the world of aircraft owners and operators. Mastenbroek knew their technical problems and consequences.

The lack of necessary production rates in the eighties was attempted by Robin to force their representatives in taking more aircraft in stock.  Most dealers could not effort this demand and ended their relation. Mastenbroek belonged to this group and was looking for new opportunities. The company found an excellent replacement by the maintenance of a Dornier 228 belonging to Flexair at Rotterdam Airport. Without any major problems caused by the maintenance, Flexair went bankrupt after three years.

Because of the acquired experience with larger aircraft, it was not difficult to find new clients as operators without own maintenance facilities. In the nineties Duijvestijn Aviation, operating Cessna 406 aircraft and Tulip Air, operating Piper Chieftains jointed the group of clients. The current fleet maintained by Mastenbroek consists of 50 aircraft from Cessna 150 to Catalina, all owned by satisfied clients.
